Smugglers Run gets a major upgrade, Food & Wine Festival bites return, and new merch hits the parks.

Hello, Disney fans!

Your Weekly Disneyland Resort Update

Big updates are arriving across the Disneyland Resort — from a new Mandalorian storyline coming to Smugglers Run, to fresh Food & Wine Festival bites, new merchandise drops, and a few ride closures to plan around.

If you're visiting soon (or just dreaming about your next Disney day), here’s everything happening this week across:

  • Disneyland Park

  • Disney California Adventure

  • Downtown Disney

Let’s dive in.

🚀 Biggest Story

The Mandalorian & Grogu Are Coming to Smugglers Run

Starting May 22, 2026, guests piloting the Millennium Falcon will experience an exciting new upgrade to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run at Disneyland and Walt Disney World.

This update brings a brand-new interactive storyline featuring The Mandalorian and Grogu.

What’s Changing

For the first time since the attraction opened, the Falcon crew will help determine the destination of their mission.

Possible locations include:

  • Bespin

  • The wreckage of the second Death Star near Endor

  • Coruscant, the iconic city-planet from the Star Wars universe

The new mission begins when Hondo Ohnaka hears about a shady deal happening on Tatooine between former Imperial officers and pirates.

There’s a bounty on their capture.

So naturally… he recruits you.

Guests will pilot the Millennium Falcon alongside Din Djarin (The Mandalorian) and Grogu to track them across the galaxy.

New Gameplay Element

Engineers on the ride will now be able to interact with Grogu during the mission, adding a fun and unexpected twist to the attraction.

Why This Matters

Smugglers Run has always been a unique ride because guests actually control the ship.

This update makes the experience even more dynamic by:

  • Adding multiple story paths

  • Introducing beloved Star Wars characters

  • Making repeat rides feel different each time

For Star Wars fans visiting Galaxy’s Edge, this could quickly become one of the most exciting ride updates in years.

Recent construction updates include:

  • New themed trees added to the set

  • Wooden stage elements

  • Decorative hanging lights

The show is expected to become a major hit for families with younger kids visiting the park.
