🎉 THE BIG PICTURE THIS WEEK

This is the transition week. The Disneyland 70th Celebration closes on August 9 after more than a year of anniversary magic, and August 10 flips the switch on fall. It is a genuinely exciting moment at the resort — not just a closing, but a changing of the guard. Paint the Night and Wondrous Journeys get a brief grace period through August 20. World of Color – ONE returns August 10. And the Halloween season details that have been trickling out all summer have arrived in full: the new food is revealed, the new entertainment is confirmed, and Yzma from The Emperor’s New Groove is making her Oogie Boogie Bash debut. There is a lot to look forward to, and this week is where it all officially begins.

🎖️ THE 70TH CELEBRATION — FINAL DAYS (THROUGH AUGUST 9)

If you have been holding off on one last visit, this is genuinely it. The Disneyland 70th Celebration ends August 9, taking with it the anniversary entertainment, the 70th-specific food lineup, the Finale Collection merchandise, and the anniversary decor that has colored the park for over a year. Once it closes, it is gone for good. Paint the Night and Wondrous Journeys get extended through August 20 as a parting gift, but everything else sunsets with the celebration. Go give it a proper farewell if you can make it this weekend.

🎃 HALLOWEENTIME 2026 — HERE’S WHAT’S COMING

HalloweenTime officially begins August 21, with Oogie Boogie Bash kicking off three days earlier on August 18. But the details are all out now, and the 2026 lineup is genuinely one of the strongest in years. Here is your full preview.

Brand New: Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake — A Haunted Mansion Street Party

The biggest new addition to Oogie Boogie Bash 2026 is the debut of Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake — A Haunted Mansion Street Party, replacing the Frightfully Fun Parade (which is on hold due to construction on the upcoming Coco attraction and Avengers Campus expansion at DCA). Madame Leota herself hosts a spirited séance and swinging wake through the streets of Disney California Adventure, complete with ghostly dancing, all 999 happy haunts, and multiple show-stopping moments. The Oogie Boogie Bash Dessert Party returns with a preferred viewing spot for the street party and a new menu of Nightmare Before Christmas–inspired treats — reservations open August 6.

New Character Debut: Yzma from The Emperor’s New Groove

The most exciting character news of the Halloween season: Yzma is making her Oogie Boogie Bash debut as a face character, joining the villain treat trail lineup for the first time. She is widely expected to be one of the most popular meet-and-greets of the event given how rarely she appears at the parks, so plan accordingly if she is on your list. The Headless Horseman also returns, riding through DCA at select times during the evening.

New Halloween Food — First Revealed Bites

Disney has started revealing the HalloweenTime food lineup and it looks like a strong year. Here are the standouts confirmed so far:

Ube Cheesecake Churro — cookie crumble churro with ube cheesecake whipped topping and cookie crumb. At Terran Treats in DCA. (New)

Villainous Wings — ghost pepper ranch and gochujang sauce at Smokejumpers Grill in DCA. (New)

Matcha Mickey-Shaped Waffles — matcha and banana custard filling at Schmoozies! in DCA. (New)

Brown Butter Maple Cold Brew — Joffrey’s beignet-flavored cold brew with maple brown butter syrup and brown butter cold foam at Harbour Galley, Disneyland Park. (New)

Boogogi Beef Toasted Cheese Sandwich with corn cheese soup — fan-favorite returning to Jolly Holiday Bakery Café. (Returning)

Caramel Apple Cheesecake — Jolly Holiday Bakery Café. (Returning)

Spicy Mac & Cheese Cone — Cozy Cone Motel 3 in Cars Land, DCA. (Returning)

Oogie Boogie Lemonade & Heatwave Pizza — Smokejumpers Grill, DCA. (Returning)

HalloweenTime Entertainment Highlights

Mickey’s Trick and Treat — a new interactive stage show for all ages at the Disney Theater in Hollywood Land, beginning August 18 at Oogie Boogie Bash.

Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit — the beloved character-pumpkin scavenger hunt returns across both parks and Downtown Disney.

Plaza de la Familia — the Coco-inspired celebration returns to Paradise Gardens Park at DCA, August 21 through November 2.

Mickey, Minnie, and friends debut new Halloween harlequin-motif outfits in Town Square — orange, yellow, and black with swirling confection details.

Oogie Boogie Bash — Ticket & Date Reminder

Oogie Boogie Bash runs 33 select nights August 18 through October 31 — the biggest calendar in the event’s history. Dates are already selling out. If tickets are on your radar, do not wait. A VIP Tour option is also available starting August 30 for those who want the full guided experience with Park Hopper and event access included.

🐭 D23 DAY AT DISNEYLAND — AUGUST 13

Just ahead of D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event (August 14–16 at the Anaheim Convention Center), D23 Day at Disneyland Resort takes place on August 13. Limited-edition D23 merchandise — pins, magnets, T-shirts, and medallions — will be available at World of Disney, Emporium, Elias & Co., Candy Palace, and other resort locations. If you are a D23 member or planning to attend the fan event, this is worth building into your itinerary.

🏨 RESORT HOTELS — SUMMER PROGRAMMING CONTINUES

The hotel programming lineup remains one of the best reasons to stay on property this time of year. Here’s what is running this week:

Movie Nights

Pixar Place Hotel is screening Toy Story 4 on the third-floor pool deck August 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31 at 8:00 PM. Disneyland Hotel is showing Freaky Friday on the Frontier Lawn August 5, 12, 19, and 26 at 8:00 PM.

Pool & Activity Programming

Disney Poolside Splash Bash! continues Sundays and Thursdays through September 6 at all three hotels. Dug’s Dance Party! runs Friday evenings at Pixar Place Hotel through August 28. A new Hotel Scavenger Search is also running resort-wide — free maps available at Guest Services at all three hotels. Friendship bracelet making, washcloth animal classes, and Learn to Draw sessions round out the August activity calendar.

Summer Room Discount

🌈 DISNEY CALIFORNIA ADVENTURE — WORLD OF COLOR RETURNS AUGUST 10

August 10 marks the return of World of Color – ONE to Disney California Adventure, running through the Halloween season. This is the first big entertainment shift of the fall transition, and it gives guests a reason to make DCA a destination the moment the 70th Celebration closes. The park also begins rolling out Halloween merchandise and limited-time fall menu items as it builds toward the August 21 full HalloweenTime launch.

🏛️ DOWNTOWN DISNEY — PUMPKIN PURSUIT & THE FULL NEW LINEUP

Downtown Disney is part of Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit this Halloween season, making it a stop on the resort-wide character pumpkin scavenger hunt. The District’s dining scene continues to be the strongest it has been in years: Gordon Ramsay at The Carnaby, Earl of Sandwich’s new flagship location, Happy Ice, and Big Boi Lumpia are all fully operational alongside the full anchor lineup of World of Disney, The D-Lander Shop, Jazz Kitchen, Salt & Straw, Beignets Expressed, Parkside Market, Disney Storyland Boutique, and Nectar Life.
